Biteback

By Richard Brooks - Art Editor

The Queen really does like her art. Charles, too. And William will go to Edinburgh University to read art history so he can eventually oversee the royal collection. They’re not unadventurous, either. The Queen was an early collector of L S Lowry, and a few weeks ago the Queen Mother took possession of an abstract, White Lace, by Sharon Gee, who has been a professional artist for only a year.

The Duke of Edinburgh both paints and collects: John Piper has long been a favourite. Channel 5 has scored a minor coup for next Sunday by getting Joanna Lumley to go up to see his etchings. Literally, of course.
